Meet the Band

The Soul Searchers was created over 10 years ago in a pub in Southport, but the origins of the conversation are now lost to time itself. After some personnel changes, some diva strops and a lot of blood, sweat, tears, bum notes and soul searching...... below is the final permanent lineup of this talented band.

So have a look at who we are and you can find out information about each member of our band, such as when they became involved in music, where they have studied or how they have successfully blagged their way into this amazing group.

Guy Loveday

Guy is the singer and playing live music is what he lives for and the fact that he gets to do this with his best mates is a bonus. His vocal influences are Bryan Adams, Huey Lewis, Joe Cocker and Michael Bolton (seriously) basically anyone with a gruff sounding voice.

He's been on the West End but musically he's the untalented one and wishes he played an instrument, but he hopes that his singing, dancing around like a shirt in a washing machine and crowd banter makes up for it.

Rudi Solman

Rudy Solman is our bassist. He is the oldest member of the band. Rudy has recently studied at BIMM university Professional musicianship. He enjoys playing Soul, Disco, R&B, Rock 'n Roll, Blues, Funk and Jazz.

His influences include James Jamerson, Bob Babbitt, Marcus Miller, Bernard Edwards and Victor Wooten.

Alex Rose

Alex is our time keeper. He started playing the drums at the age of 8 and soon after he started to learn the saxophone.

He's played regularly in various bands ever since for all kinds of events. Alex’s main musical influences as a drummer are Jeff Porcaro, John Robinson and Sonny Emory to name but a few.

Alan Smith

Alan Smith is our guitarist, hailing from Warrington he started out as a solo acoustic blues player playing opening spots at a local Blues and folk club supporting well known acts like Bert Yanch, Steve Philips and Peter Price.

He progressed to become one of the “House band” players at Aprils Bar. As a bit of an all-rounder he can turn his hand to most styles of music.

Andrew Louis

Andrew started playing the piano at the age of 5 and music has been a cornerstone to his life ever since. Graduating Leeds University with BA Music, Andrew went on to pursue a career as a musician playing both piano and guitar.

Heavily influenced by the sounds of U2, Coldplay, Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, Andrew is the silver fox of the band and brings the surround sound, particularly on the Hammond Organ.
